Formula BMW Pacific series
Following its debut in 2003, Formula BMW Asia (now Pacific) provided the ideal platform for talented motorsport youngsters from the Pacific region to test their ability in international competition. The introduction of Formula BMW Pacific in 2008 took into account the exponentially increasing importance of the series in one of the most dynamic region of the world. Formula BMW Pacific features an ultra-modern standard specification race car and a comprehensive training and intensive support program for young racing Talents. The Series allows drivers as young as 15 to test their talent and develop their skills. The young drivers can safely rely upon their regularly racing car, the Formula BMW FB02, capable of a top speed of 230km/h.
Formula BMW is a junior racing formula for single seater cars. It is positioned at the bottom of the motorsport career ladder alongside the longer established Formula Ford and Formula Renault category. Like Formula Ford, it is intended to function as the young kart racing graduate's first experience of car racing. The new formula was created by BMW Motorsport in 2001, with the first of its championships being inaugurated in Germany in 2002. Selected competitors from each FBMW series meet in the World Final at the end of each season, with the promise of a Formula One test for the winner.
